- Calcining Progess
Calcining is the first process of petroleum coke heat treatment. Under normal circumstances, the temperature of high temperature heat treatment is about 1300℃. The purpose is to remove water, volatiles, sulfur, hydrogen and other impurities in petroleum coke, and to change the structure and physicochemical properties of various carbon materials. This method can reduce the hydrogen content of petroleum coke regenerated product, improve its graphitization degree, and thus improve its mechanical strength, density, electrical conductivity and oxidation resistance.
At present, the calcining of petroleum coke in China mainly adopts four ways: rotary kiln forging furnace, pot forging furnace, rotary furnace and electric forging furnace. Due to the different structure of some furnace models, the technology also has great differences. Form a complete set of domestic and foreign electrolytic aluminium pre-baked anode and commercial pre-baked anode production enterprises of petroleum coke tank calcine furnace, most of the rotary kiln to calcine, the tank type calcine furnace heating mode is to use heat coming from the refractory brick for indirect heating, the heating mode of rotary kiln is heated by burning gas direct contact with the material.
Whether graphitized cathode carbon blocks used in the production of petroleum coke after forging, or use of pre-baked anode carbon block of the calcined petroleum coke, even though they have different demand for raw materials, but their production process is the same, namely do not add any other raw material, obtained by calcine coke after forging, can effectively improve the physical properties of the raw coke, such as electrical conductivity, density, etc.
There are two common production processes of calcined petroleum coke, rotary kiln and pot furnace. Most of the foreign petrochemical enterprises use rotary kiln to forge petroleum coke, while most of them use tank furnace to forge petroleum coke in China.
Its production process is relatively simple, mainly to control the forging burning time and temperature, can process various types of petroleum coke, but can not process volatile high combustion. It can be made using a pot stove.
More and more companies are working to develop better tank furnace production processes, including increasing capacity to improve automation, waste heat and waste gas treatment. So the production technology of pot furnace will be the main direction of furnace development in the future.
In foreign countries, the forging process of petroleum coke is completed in an oil refinery, and the petroleum coke is forged directly into the forging device. The price of petroleum coke produced by China’s refineries is relatively low because there is no forging and firing device. At present, China’s petroleum coke and coal forging are mainly concentrated in the metallurgical industry, such as carbonization plants, aluminum plants and so on.
