In 2021, China’s electric furnace steel output will go up and down. In the first half of the year, the output gap during the epidemic period last year will be filled. The output increased by 32.84% year-on-year to 62.78 million tons. In the second half of the year, the output of electric furnace steel continued to decline due to the dual control of energy consumption and power restriction. According to statistics from Xin Lu Information, the output is expected to reach about 118 million tons in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 16.8%.
With the annual increase in the output of electric furnace steel and the gradual recovery of foreign trade exports after the new crown epidemic in 2020 continues, according to the statistics of Xinli Information, China’s graphite electrode production capacity in 2021 will be 2.499 million tons, an increase of 16% year-on-year. In 2021, China’s graphite electrode output is expected to reach 1.08 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%.

China’s total graphite electrode exports are expected to reach 370,000 tons in 2021, up 20.9 percent year-on-year and surpassing the 2019 level, according to customs data. According to the export data from January to November, the top three export destinations are: Russian Federation 39,200 tons, Turkey 31,500 tons and Italy 21,500 tons, accounting for 10.6%, 8.5% and 5.8% respectively.
