The coke obtained from petrochemical industry cannot be directly used in the production of pre-baked anode and graphitized cathode carbon block in the field of aluminum electrolysis. In production, two ways of calcining coke are usually used in rotary kiln and pot furnace to get calcined petroleum coke, which is the raw material of carbon used in aluminum electrolysis.
The graphitized cathode carbon block produced by calcined petroleum coke will not be consumed in the process of electrolytic aluminum production, except for the stop-slot repair. However, the pre-baked anode produced by calcined petroleum coke is constantly consumed in the process of electrolytic aluminum production. According to statistics, it takes about 370 kg ~410 kg of calcined petroleum coke to produce one ton of primary aluminum.
